Egyptian giants Zamalek have parted ways with coach Patrice Carteron just a few months after lifting the Egyptian Premier League title.
Zamalek beat Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly to last season’s league title – their first in seven years – but have dropped to fourth place on the log following a string of poor results.
They currently sit three points behind bitter rivals Al Ahly but have one game in hand.
In addition, Zamalek are yet to win a CAF Champions League group stage game, drawing two before losing 3-1 to Wydad Casablanca on the weekend.
Overall the club has won just one of their last nine games in all competitions, leading controversial president Mortada Mansour and Carteron to agree to a mutual contract termination.
According to Kingfut, Carteron agreed to a compensation of one month’s salary worth $110 000 (R1.7 million) instead of his full release clause worth $300 000 (R4.6 million).
Overall, Carteron was in charge for 40 games during his second spell at the club, winning 27 and losing just five.
