Official: Baccus Lands New Club

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus has joined A League side Macarthur FC, who are coached by Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke.

The 30-year-old, who was one of several players released by Amakhosi, has penned a two-year deal upon his return to Australia.

“I’m excited to be here and start a new challenge with this club,” Baccus told his new club’s media team.

“I’m from this area, so I’m looking forward to being back here and getting start with the new coaches and my new teammates.

“With the new appointment of Dwight to the club, I think its an exciting time for the club and for us players learn from his experience at such a high level. 

“I think the team is moulding to be a great one and I believe if we work together, we will do really well in the competition.”

Macarthur CEO Sam Krslovic added: “Kearyn is a talented midfielder who adds value to what we are building here at the club.

“I believe Kearyn is a representation of the club’s core values and we look forward to having him here at the club as we strive for success.”

Baccus previously turned out for Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers and City before his move to Amakhosi in July 2019. At Amakhosi he made 57 appearances in three full campaigns before his exit.

During his spell with the Australian outfits, he emerged as one of the leading talents in the league and featured in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League with Wanderers.
