Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki was left pleased with the performance of Pule Mmodi who opened up his account with a brace in the 3-0 win over AmaZulu.
Chiefs secured their first league win of the season in the Ntseki era with Mmodi central to the victory in his home debut at FNB Stadium.
Tebogo Potsane also bagged two assists while Edson Castillo scored his second for the club with the late third.
“I think we brought in Pule Mmodi with a very clear understanding that he’s a quality player, but we always say when it comes to players coming from other teams, Chiefs is a different beast,” Nteski said about his arrival.
“The most important thing is to settle and with him, he scored two goals, I think it will help him and if you look at Potsane, assisting in two goals, it’s settled our front three in terms of the contribution that they had to make to the team.
“Yes we’ve been solid in defence and midfield but we needed more aggression in the last third and I think Pule Mmodi today, raised his hands and everything fell into place and he managed to score the goals.
“For all the players, it’s a morale booster – going forward to say yes, we can score goals which is very important.”
Chiefs now turn their attention to Stellenbosch in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday at Athlone Stadium (19h30).
