Nicki Minaj crowns Taylor Swift a ‘battle rapper’

Nicki Minaj has showered Taylor Swift with glowing praise following the release of Swift’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on 3 October.

The rapper took to social media in a string of posts, declaring that the pop superstar’s songwriting proves she could hold her own as a “battle rapper”, according to Complex

NICKI MINAJ PRAISES THE NEW ALBUM

The rap icon, who famously supported Swift’s breakthrough era back in 2010 by co-signing Super Bass, expressed her excitement over multiple tracks.

She singled out Wood, a sensual ode to Swift’s fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce, as “EXACTLY what I needed tonight.” She added it perfectly captures “the sound of falling in love with your soul mate,” according to Cosmopolitan.

NICKI MINAJ AND ELDEST DAUGHTER

Nicki Minaj revealed she danced to the track and even teased that the artistry “will go over y’all heads.”

Other songs got a nod too. Eldest Daughter impressed her for being “intentional” and resonating with “authentic lone wolves.”

The album’s title track, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, was applauded for Carpenter’s fully in-character delivery, according to Billboard.

NICKI MINAJ VS CARDI B

Nicki Minaj also hyped Actually Romantic and Cancelled!, interpreting them as fierce responses to industry shade, possibly aimed at Charli XCX.

This show of mutual respect comes amid Nicki Minaj’s very public reignited feud with Cardi B, making her endorsement of Swift’s album particularly striking.

BARBZ VS BARDI

The ongoing Barbz vs Bardi drama has seen both artists trade personal insults online, yet Minaj’s Swift commentary remained entirely positive.

Both Nicki and Taylor Swift enjoy massive followings locally, with their albums dominating Spotify SA charts within hours of release.

With The Life of a Showgirl already breaking streaming records, local Swifties are joining Barbz in hoping for the ultimate collaboration between these Sagittarius queens.
