New Chiefs Striker Set To Arrive At Naturena

New Kaizer Chiefs striker Efmamjjasond González Palacios is set to be unveiled by the club after being scheduled to arrive in South Africa on Wednesday.

Last week Thursday, Chiefs announced the signing of the striker with the extraordinary first name, which is put together based on the first letters of the months in Spanish — “simply known as Jasond González”.

However, there was a delay in this travels after the Colombian forward agreed to join Chiefs on loan, with an option to purchase at the end of the 2023/24 season, as reported by iDiski Times.

Having scored eight goals in his first 11 games for Real Santa Cruz, there’s real optimism that the towering striker can help remedy Chiefs’ goalscoring concerns this season.

“The intentions are very clear. We went into the market, we got a player that is on his way to come and boost our attack, upfront so that we can start scoring goals,” Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa said on Radio 2000 on Monday

But his arrival was delayed by some Visa issues, with his home country Colombia not having a South African embassy and his application needing to be sent to neighbouring Venezuela.

This publication, though, has learnt that González’ started his trip to South Africa on Tuesday ahead of his scheduled arrival on Wednesday, where his move and unveiling would be completed at the Soweto giants.

He is expected to be unveiled in Chiefs attire this week and, if the timing is right, he could potentially even be registered as a new player before facing AmaZulu – however, due to the major time zone differences, it will be unlikely that he’d be thrown into action immediately.
