New Chiefs Signing On Zwane Comments

New Kaizer Chiefs signing Thatayaone Ditlhokwe says he’s unconcerned about the recent comments made by head coach Arthur Zwane.

After losing out to fourth place on the final day of the season Zwane once again revisited the running narrative of players not having the mentality to succeed at Amakhosi.

In a wide range of topics, he discussed how rival clubs in the DStv Premiership make things tough for Chiefs to secure their preferred targets, to certain players rising to the occasion to star against them but not shining when signed for the Soweto giants due to the pressure that comes with the massive institution and demands from the biggest fan base in Mzansi.

“I don’t think there’s any pressure about that statement [Zwane made], I don’t think of it,” the Botswana captain said, as he discussed his readiness for the move after developing into one of the leading defenders at SuperSport United ahead of his free transfer.

“As a player since my time in Botswana, my ambition was to come out of Botswana and play in South Africa – then do my level best in South Africa [to move beyond South Africa].

“So my aim now is to continue growing each and every game and win trophies. That’s my ambition.”

When pressed about what sort of legacy he wants to create as an ambassador for Botswanan football he stated he needs to win silverware at the highest level.

“I need to win trophies, I need to play continental football like CAF Champions League, so that is what I am looking forward to as a player and what I am trying to [move closer towards] each and every training session, each and every game,” he added.

“I need to grow as a player to win those things because you don’t win them for the sake of winning, you need to put in extra to win these types of trophies.

“[With Botswana bidding for AFCON], it will be a good opportunity for Botswana players, for us to participate in AFCON because it offers exposure and opportunity for players to earn moves out the country and be able to see greener pastures, to come back, support their families and gain experience which they can come back and pour into a new generation [of footballers].”
