Nedbank Employee Shot Dead In Metrobus While Travelling To Work

The serene morning routine of boarding a bus to work turned into a nightmare for a Joburg woman, who was executed in a targeted attack on Wednesday morning. The tragic incident has left the community in Fleurhof in shock and mourning.

The incident unfolded around 6 am when the Joburg woman, who worked at Nedbank in Sunninghill, boarded the city’s metro bus. According to eyewitnesses and the bus driver, the gunman had boarded the bus at an earlier stop.

As the bus approached the station where the woman boarded, the shooter cocked his handgun and targeted her as she was getting on the bus.

Despite her attempts to flee, the gunman pursued and fatally shot her after she fell to the ground.

The scene quickly became a focal point for media crews, police, and community members. MMC for Roads and Transport in Joburg, Councillor Kenny Kunene, was convinced that the murder was a meticulously planned hit.

He stated that the victim was specifically targeted, likely due to her employment at the bank, hinting at potential criminal syndicate involvement.

Further investigation revealed that the gunman was whisked away by a white Volkswagen Polo immediately after the shooting. Authorities suspect that the shooter had been scouting the woman’s routine for several days.

The woman’s husband also informed the authorities that his wife had noticed suspicious individuals at the bus station the previous day. This tragic event underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect citizens from such premeditated attacks.
