Ncikazi: The Trophy Is In Sundowns’ Cabinet

Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi feels the 2021/22 DStv Premiership title is already in the trophy cabinet of Mamelodi Sundowns.

After their 0-0 draw against Cape Town City, the Buccaneers remained in fourth place and 19 points behind league leaders Sundowns – who have played one game more.

Sundowns continued their march to a sixth consecutive top-flight title with a convincing 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy andNcikazi suggested only Sundowns can prevent themselves from what seems inevitable now.

“Let’s control what’s in our control and gather as many points as we can, but from the look of things, I think the trophy is in Sundowns’ cabinet,” he said in the post-match press conference.

“It’s up to Sundowns to take the trophy out of the cabinet for competition. But from the look of things, realistically.

“I think the trophy is in their cabinet, but if it’s not mathematically like that anything is possible in football – but realistically I think it’s in their cabinet.”

Pirates next challenge in the league is the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs as they both look to cement their places for CAF Football spots for the upcoming season.
