Ncikazi – I Saw A Confident Team

Orlando Pirates co coach Mandla Ncikazi has commended his team after they beat Maritzburg United 4-1 on Tuesday evening to stay on course to possibly qualify for CAF Champions League football next season, but still feels they could have scored more.

Pirates beat Maritzburg at the Orlando Stadium but will still need to win their two remaining fixtures if they want to finish second and compete in Africa next season. Cape Town City currently sit in second place, but after the comprehensive win tonight, Pirates would join City on 49 points were they to beat Royal AM and SuperSport United, but have a superior goal difference to Eric Tinkler’s team.

Speaking to SuperSport after the game, Ncikazi commended his team after bouncing back, following their defeat in last Friday’s CAF Confederation Cup final.

“Let’s thank the players for the win from the situation that we were coming from,” Ncikazi told SuperSport.”

“I saw a confident team. My only concern is that we could have scored more. That’s the only area you wish. If you take all these opportunities that come your way, score them without sounding ungrateful.

“But having said that, we won the match. We got the three points. That’s important for me today.”

Ncikazi said there was no difference in their approach to this game, to how they played the final, the only difference he felt was they took their chances.

“Nothing was different on how we approach the game, the only difference that today we took the chances that we created, differently from other matches,” he continued.

“That’s the only difference. Today we scored, in other matches which we don’t. I thought that was the only difference.”
