Former Mamelodi Sundowns, Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town Spurs defender Thendo Mukumela is adapting to life at his new club, and said being an AmaZulu player is an honour.
Mukumela was one of six signings originally named by the club, who have since also signed Ethan Brooks, Rally Bwalya and George Maluleka.
The 24-year-old, who has represented South Africa at every level from U17 upwards, broke onto the scenes as a junior at Chloorkop, but made his move to Cape Town in 2018, where he starred for Ajax and then after at Spurs when the club was re-branded. Overall he featured in 90 league games in Cape Town, scoring 17 goals.
But it was a difficult last two seasons for Mukumela at the struggling second tier outfit, and he will hope to resurrect his promising career in Durban.
“It is actually a great honour and privilege to play for a club like AmaZulu,” Mukumela was quoted as saying on the club’s website
“Everything has been going well, our preparations are on track. I am a bit shaky at times because when you get to a new environment you must adapt to how they do things and adapt to everything happening there including the culture.
“But overall it is good, once I am fully adapted to the team, I will do well for the team.”
