Msimango Opens Up On ‘Emotional’ Game

New Kaizer Chiefs centre-back has insisted it will be an “emotional” game when he returns to TS Galaxy for Sunday’s DStv Premiership clash.

Msimango, 26, joined Amakhosi from The Rockets earlier in the transfer window and will now face his former club for the first time.

Chiefs will hope to keep the positive momentum going after celebrating their first win of the new season following their 2-1 victory over Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarter-final last week.

But they now switch attention to the DStv Premiership, where they have only collected one point from their first two games so far.

“That’s where emotional intelligence comes into it,” he told the club’s media department.

“Obviously, it’s emotional to play against your former employers, people that gave you a platform and opportunities to shine at the highest level of South African football, the PSL, but I have to keep that in check and focus on the task at hand.

“I need to do a job for my current employers, which s Kaizer Chiefs, my new family and help them get maximum points.

“I’m looking forward to the game. It is going to be a good one. They are a good team, playing well and we are a great team playing well, so it’s going to be a good fixture for us.”

Msimango also hailed the support from the stands and says he is happy with his personal start to the campaign so far.

“The feedback from the games is all positive, all good,” he added.

“What stood out for me was the support, the atmosphere at the games was truly magnificent. We could feel the support and that, for me, was a key factor, the number one factor, in me performing the way I did.

“It is motivating and to see it happen every game is fantastic so I look forward to every game.

“Also, when it comes to applying the technical and tactical side, I think I have done very well, according to the team’s principles and structures, so I can only build from that going forward and keep improving my game.”

Chiefs will take on Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit at 15:00 on Sunday.
