Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane’s name has once again been linked with a vacant coaching job, this time around at Raja Casablanca FC in Morocco.
Raja Casablanca, who are on position 11 on the log table, want to replace Tunisian coach Faouzi Benzarti who has left the job.
The Moroccan outfit parted ways with Benzarti earlier this week after an uninspiring start to the season.
Raja Casablanca are winless in three games of one loss and two draws in the Botola Pro League.
SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES
Raja Casablanca chairman Aziz El Badraoli has since given a strong hint on the possible candidate to replace Benzarti.
“Among the CVs we received, three were selected. We are studying them…and to affirm that the next coach of the club will be a foreign executive,” he told Le360.
Kingfut website in Egypt says Raja Casablanca’s board has gone for Mosimane as the number one possible candidate for the job.
Raja Casablanca are expected to release the name of the new coach in the next few days.
MOSIMANE LINKED TO SEVERAL JOBS
The linking of Mosimane’s name to the Moroccan team is unsurprising considering the big reputation he built at Mamelodi Sundowns and until recently, Al Ahly.
It is becoming a norm that every time there is a vacancy, the name of the former SuperSport gaffer is thrown in the hat.
Little wonder, Mosimane has also been touted as a possible candidate to take over Simba post in Tanzania.
Mosimane is on a breather after electing to resign from Al Ahly head coach position in June this year.
The departure of the South African ended 21 months at the helm of the Club of the Century.
He led Al Ahly to three CAF Champions League final appearances and won it back-to-back in the year 2020 and 2021.
Mosimane also steered Al Ahly to two consecutive Fifa Club World Cup bronze medals in the year 2020 and 2021.
The former Bafana Bafana handler also bagged two CAF Super Cup titles, an Egypt Cup and an Egyptian Super Cup.
