Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has insisted his side are in a “very difficult moment” due to injuries and promised that the club will make one more signing.

Masandawana became the third club to start the league with five wins, following in the footsteps of Kaizer Chiefs (1996 and 2014) and Orlando Pirates (2002).

It was the first time in history that Sundowns still have a 100% record after five league games, but Mokwena admitted it came in a difficult moment for the club, with around 10 players sidelined with injuries.

“We are in a difficult moment, we are in a very difficult moment,” he told SuperSport TV.

“But at least we have a bit of break now before the next game. And now we have to crawl towards that game against Polokwane City, use everything that we have.

“We have a strong squad, and now give opportunities to everybody to fight for their place.

“And Richards Bay is a difficult side, very energetic, very aggressive with their pressure. You saw when they pressed with their three, they sustained the pressure, you have to find possibilities in the second line, maybe even the third line.

“Overall a very good performance of the team, even the subs did very, very well. So I’m proud of them.

Mokwena was also asked if the club would still become active in the transfer market again, and revealed that they will sign one more player.

“It depends on what’s available but probably one more – only one more,” he added.
