Mngqithi Sends Message To Downs Supporters

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has sent a message to the ‘Yellow Nation’ after the great turnout of supporters in the first three games of the season.

Sundowns began their DStv Premiership title defence in Cape Town, with a 2-0 win over Cape Town City in front of a packed DHL Stadium with mostly Masandawana fans.

They then faced TS Galaxy in a midweek game at Loftus Versfeld, where not as many people came due to the late kick-off.

However, on Saturday Loftus was sold out against Kaizer Chiefs in the match with the best attendance so far this season, as Masandawana welcomed the most-supported team in the country, Kaizer Chiefs.

Downs put on a show for their fans and hammered Amakhosi 4-0, with Mngqithi praising the turnout of the Masandawana and hopes it will continue.

“I think one must first thank the Yellow Nation for the support that they are giving us because ever since the stadiums have been opened it has looked very good,” he told the club’s media department.

“In Cape Town, our first match we had a very decent crowd, it felt like we are playing at home, against Kaizer Chiefs I think I saw the rise of the Yellow Nation into a level that one would like to keep for the longest of time and one would wish that the Yellow Nation can continue to support us, be it we are playing away, be it we are playing at home, we would like to have those descent crowds because they drive us.

“Their singing, those drums are always driving us and we appreciate their presence in the stadium and we wish they can make every match, be it we are playing away from home but make it a home game for us by having our numbers and make sure that we dominate the opposition from the outside and we also dominate the opposition inside the pitch.”
