Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy (VFA) have parted ways with their head coach Michael Loftman.

Loftman tendered his resignation with immediate effect, according to a statement by the club released on Tuesday.

He was in charge for four matches, winning one and losing the other three in the second-tier league.

The former Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) coach leaves the club in 14th position.

BUT THEY DID LOFTMAN RESIGN?

Last week, FARPost reported on an alleged rift between Loftman and his second assistant coach Luvhengo Mungomeni.

It was alleged that Loftman and Mungomeni were involved in an ugly tussle that nearly turned physical following their 1-0 defeat by Magesi in their first match of the season.

It is said that coach Loftman had indicated that he did not want backstabbers in his circle and has since told his assistant coach, who is also head of scout, that he doesn’t want him on the bench.

As a result, Mungomeni was seen sitting on the grandstand instead of the bench in their second game of the campaign against Platinum City Rovers which they won 1-0. Reports that Loftman denied.

“Me and coach Luvhengo are very close. We speak every day and there is no such issue,” said Loftman at the time.

“We have never had any serious disagreement as we just talk football and everything has been positive.

“I don’t remember having any moment where I even doubted us collaborating together.”

Meanwhile, VFA have confirmed that Loftman assistant Kabelo Sibiya will take over as interim coach.

“The club and VFA Chairman, Mr. Munzhelele would like to thank the coach [Loftman] for the hard work he has put in the last couple of months and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” said the club in a statement.

VFA will have some time to look for a new coach as they will only be in action on Saturday.
