Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou is happy things are finally coming together and added that things would have not have taken this long to get going if it wasn’t for injuries.
However, he said “hard work” is the only panacea to remedy his ills to see more game time but he was unlucky with injuries last term.
Matlou, who Chiefs signed from Moroka Swallows at the beginning of last season, featured in 14 matches last term in all competitions.
This term, he has started three of five league matches, one of the two matches in the MTN8, which was surprisingly the semi-final loss against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Wafa Wafa Cup semi-final second leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
“It is just hard work,” said Matlou when asked by iDiski Times on what he has to do to establish himself after finally shaking off the early setbacks.
“Of course, I didn’t have the best start last season, unfortunately, I go injured. Injuries were there for me last season but I just make sure that whenever I’m given a chance, I’m just going to use it.
“No matter how many minutes I play, what matters most is me playing, giving my best.”
Chiefs had not won in the last four matches in all competitions, before beating Sekhukhune United 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.
Brandon Truter’s side had beaten Amakhosi home and away last term and unlike Chiefs, Sekhukhune were coming to this game with a morale much better as they beat Royal AM in their last game away midweek last week.
