Marcelo has announced that he is officially leaving Real Madrid when his contract expires next month.

The Brazilian international has been with the Spainish giants for 15 years, having joined them back in 2007 from Fluminense.

He noted that the club is not going to renew his contract, with Real appearing like they are ready to move in a new approach – and younger direction.

“Yes, this was my final game with Real Madrid,” said the 34-year-old left-back.

“But, I would like to stay and continue here all my life.

“Hopefully my story with Real Madrid doesn’t end here.”

Marcelo is now Madrid’s most decorated player having claimed his 24th major trophy last night when they defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the Uefa Champions League final, thanks to Vinicius Jr’s solo goal.

He has won four Champions Leagues, six LaLiga titles, four Club World Cups, five Spanish Supercopas, three Uefa Super Cups and two Copa del Rey titles.
