Manchester United part ways with Ruben Amorim after 14 months

Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United.

Manchester United have dismissed head coach Ruben Amorim following 14 months in charge, citing “rising tension” at Old Trafford.

The decision was finalised following a meeting between Amorim, Chief Executive Omar Berrada, and Technical Director Jason Wilcox.

In an official statement, the club confirmed: “Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United.”

The hierarchy pointed to the club’s current league standing as the primary driver for the change:

“With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.

The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future.”

Darren Fletcher will take immediate charge of the first team for Wednesday’s trip to Burnley. Concluding their announcement, the club stated:
