Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the transfer window ends.
This comes after the Gabonese frontman is attracting the attention of Chelsea, according to Gerard Romero.
Aubameyang joined the Spanish giants from Arsenal on the final day of the January transfer window after not playing for the Gunners following a disciplinary breach in December 2021.
He scored 13 goals from 23 games upon his arrival at the Catalan club last season.
In a turn of events, the 32-year-old goal poacher only came off the bench with eight minutes remaining in Barca’s opening game of the campaign.
The side went all out to sign the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this transfer to bolster their striking force. With Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele also ahead of him [Aubameyang] in the pecking order, the former Borussia Dortmund goalscorer looks to be heading for the exit door as Barca needs the money from the sale of Aubameyang to be able to sustain the club.
With Man United yet to recruit an attacker to slot into their front three, Auba, who is capable of playing up front or from the left, would bolster Erik ten Hag‘s forward options as Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to leave Old Trafford.
However, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reckons that Chelsea has scheduled a new round of talks with Aubameyang’s camp this week. He still holds a strong interest in the striker and is pushing hard to sign him.
Over the last decade, Aubameyang has always reached double figures in terms of goals. His best season came in 2016/17 when he was the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 31 goals, finishing third in the Golden Shoe rankings behind winner Leo Messi (37 goals).
