Mamelodi Sundowns returned to DStv Premiership action when they traveled to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to face Chippa United on Saturday night.

Rhulani Mokwena’s side maintained their 100% record with another solid victory.

An early goal by Aubrey Modiba, after he was played through by Themba Zwane, gave the Brazilians the lead in the 36th minute.

Chippa United then gifted Mamelodi Sundowns the second goal of the evening after Justice Chabalala’s failed clearance fell into his own net.

The match ended that way, with Rhulani Mokwena’s side taking all three points at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“Of course I know we can play better, I know that it’s still early in the season but I’m so impressed with the signs already, very early this season.” Rhulani Mokwena told the club’s website.

“We just just use the energy whether positive or negative to just galvanize us and push Mamelodi Sundowns to the next level.

“In relation to the strikers if we can get Thapelo [Morena] back quickly and if we can get [Abubeker] Nasir back also very quickly, I think we we are in a decent situation.

“Of course we have to look and see whether or not we will go into the market and so that’s that’s a space for the sporting director and the club.”

Spurs sign another Mamelodi Sundowns man

“Cape Town Spurs have signed right-back Nicholus Lukhubeni on a season-long loan from the Brazilians. He joins two other Sundowns loanees, Luvuyo Phewa and Siyanda Msani, who’re also part of the CT Spurs set-up this season.” a FarPost report read.
