The Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow, Tenisha Warner, has filed a lawsuit against his mother over breach of their prenup agreement.

At the age of 54, Malcolm-Jamal drowned in July 2025 while on vacation at Playa Grande, Cahuita, Limón. He was the father of Tenisha’s nine-year-old daughter.

She is suing her mother-in-law, Pamela Warner, as the trustee of the Warner Family Trust, claiming that she is owed over $1,276,042.46 (R21,318,680), according to LA Times.

This is in relation to financial promises the actor, who became famous for his role as Theo Huxtable, made to Tenisha in their prenup ahead of their 2022 wedding.

According to court documents, Tenisha’s complaint outlines several financial obligations detailed in her premarital agreement with actor Malcolm-Jamal. The prenup required him to maintain a $1 million (R16,706,880) term life insurance policy naming Tenisha as the sole beneficiary. Additionally, he agreed to fully fund a Roth IRA for her annually, an obligation totaling $30,500 (R509,559), and pay her $16,000 (R267,310) for each wedding anniversary. The agreement, which was included with the complaint, also mandated a monthly salary of $5,500 (R91,887) for her role as his Chief of Staff, reports CNN.
