South African midfielder Thabo Cele has received high praise from his coach Mariusz Lewandowski after his last two performances.

Cele has started two games in a row already this season after only making 13 appearances last season in all competitions, playing 610 minutes in total.

In the previous game that saw his side play to a 1-1 draw against Stal Mielec, he produced an assist which was his first for the club this season.

Lewandowski got appointed just before the 2022/23 season kickoff and he was shocked that the South African didn’t play many games in the last campaign. He even mentioned that the former KZN Academy product is capable of playing at the elite level in Europe.

“I don’t want to praise him too much, but he is a player for a very good team – I’m not talking about the Polish league, but about a strong European club,” Lewandowski told Weszlo.

“If he continues like this, it will be fine. I don’t know why he didn’t play before, but for me, he is a player who has a lot of quality and potential.”

The 25-year-old has featured 15 times for the Polish top-flight side since his arrival in October last year while registering two assists in his deep-lying playmaker role.
