Letsoaka in Lesotho on FIFA mission

The Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) president Advocate Salemane Phafane has welcomed FIFA’s Regional Technical Consultant, Serame Letsoaka in the country.

Letsoaka will spent five days in the Mountain Kingdom unpacking the Talent Development Scheme Programme (TDS).

The programme was launched in 2020 by FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsene Wenger.

With it, the world governing body aims to provide Member Associations with thorough analysis of their high performance ecosystem in both men’s and women’s football including all the national teams, domestic leagues, scouting projects, academies in order to ensure that every talented player gets the chance to reach their full potential.

FIFA roped in the former Bafana Bafana assistant coach, and was assigned to 20 FIFA members inclusive of Lesotho.

Phafane told the association’s media team that Lesotho will benefit greatly from the programme in terms of training and knowledge that comes with it.

“We are very grateful and thankful to FIFA for coming up with the programme of this nature, which I have no doubt will improve our football for the better,” he said.
Since arriving, Letsoaka has been providing information on how the TDS will work and how Lesotho will benefit from it.

He has talked in greater detail about the four pillars or support that will make TDS, namely: expertise, training and education, knowledge sharing and funding.

“We are going to benefit massively as the Lesotho Football Association with all the expertise, training and education, knowledge sharing as well as the funding that FIFA will be putting towards this programme.” Phafane continued.
