Just days after Nkanyiso Zungu was released from Richards Bay, his agent Mike Makaab has addressed the future of the Orlando Pirates loanee.
Zungu, 27, made 11 appearances for the Natal Richboyz this season, but hadn’t made the squad since substitute a appearance against Swallows on 3 February.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Richards Bay have released the attacking midfielder over some alleged off-the-field issues, with his future now left in limbo.
“We’ll always be there to support him,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
“The most important thing is that he’s got to make a decision whether football is going to be his career or not.
“If it is, we’re going to make sure that we’re giving him all the support to get him through his difficult time – personal issues – and hopefully see the genius that we all know he has come out in the new season.”
Makaab also confirmed that Zungu will not be returning to his mother club Pirates because his contract with the Buccaneers will run out by the end of June.
“No, he’s not going back to Pirates. His contract with Pirates is coming to an end. They had an option to extend his contract, which they haven’t exercised,” he added.
“In June, by the end of June, Nkanyiso will be a free agent.
“As I said, the most important for us to give him the right support and advice for his family and friends to do exactly the same, give him the right support and right advice, because he’s a super talented player.
“He’s just got to get his personal issues under control and if does, I still believe in this young man. I think he’s got so much to prove.”
