Daine Klate has been sacked by Chippa United despite being just seven games in charge of the Chilli Boys, iDiski Times has learnt.
Klate, 37, took over the head coach role at the club in the beginning of the campaign on 11 July after impressing with Chippa’s DStv Diski Challenge team last season.
However, the first head coach stint of his managerial career only lasted seven matches and less than two months, this publication understands.
According to iDiski Times sources, Klate was sacked on Thursday morning, with Morgan Mammila, who only returned to the club earlier in the week and was Klate’s assistant during their clash with Mamelodi Sundowns, set to take over as interim coach.
Chippa could also bring back Kurt Lentjies, who had guided the club to safety last season but was placed on leave just before Klate’s appointment. Lentjies is currently still on the payroll of the club.
Of his seven games in charge, Klate won just one – a much-celebrated win against his former club Orlando Pirates – drew two and lost four, including Wednesday night’s last-minute defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
