Daine Klate has confirmed his Chippa United sacking, as earlier reported by iDiski Times.

Earlier on Thursday, iDiski Times reported that Klate had been relieved of his duties after just seven games in charge, with Morgan Mammila  understood to take over as caretaker coach.

Last season’s interim coach Kurt Lentjies could also return to his role, but the club are yet to make an official announcement on the technical team changes.

While, Chippa are yet to make a statement, Klate did confirm his sacking after just seven games in charge.

“I am relieved to be relieved of my duties to tell you the truth,” he told SABC Sport.

“But I took the job knowing what I was getting myself into. I take the lessons and I will grow from that and wish the club nothing but the best.”

On Wednesday night, Klate still sounded positive he could turn things around despite the last-minute sucker punch by Peter Shalulile against Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I thought the boys were brave today, very, very brave against a quality side,” Klate told SuperSport TV after the match and before knowing about his fate.

“They are quality but I thought today, we were really, really brave and that’s going to happen sometimes because they have that much quality and they won’t give up.

“But I thought I can’t fault them today, application was fantastic. From start to finish, I thought we were up for it today and positive signs, [but] we’ve got to continue, we’ve got to continue.

“I don’t like where we are, but there is hope, there is always hope.”

Klate only collected one win in seven games in charge of the Chilli Boys, while drawing two and losing four.

He beat his former side Orlando Pirates in a much-celebrated victory, which was the first of his senior coaching career after he was promoted from Chippa’s DStv Diski Challenge coach to the head coach position.

Chippa’s decision to relieve him of his head coach duties comes with the club rooted at the bottom of the log with just five points from seven games.
