South African actress Kealeboga Masango is steadily building a name for herself with performances that reveal a growing range and maturity.
From Rhythm City to Youngins, and now The Four of Us, the 23-year-old has taken on characters that have challenged her as an actress.

Learning from industry icons
In The Four of Us, Masango plays Bulingile ‘Buli’ Dhlomo, a young woman whose seemingly carefree lifestyle masks deeper emotional struggles.
According to Sowetan S Mag, working alongside veteran actors Sindi Dlathu and Sdumo Mtshali has been another important chapter in her career.
Masango describes the experience as a valuable learning opportunity, saying established actors have helped guide her through challenging scenes. The experience has also created a sense of family among the cast.
Finding Buli beneath the glamour
Masango says understanding Buli required her to look beyond the character’s partying and privileged lifestyle. Initially, she struggled to determine where the character fit, but gradually discovered a more vulnerable person beneath the surface.

Buli is accustomed to comfort and getting her way, but finds herself overwhelmed when her circumstances change. Her partying and drinking become ways of avoiding difficult emotions and family problems.
For Masango, portraying those layers has reinforced an important lesson about acting: characters cannot simply be judged by their behaviour. Understanding their motivations is key to making them feel authentic.
What’s next for Kealeboga Masango?
Having played several characters from comfortable backgrounds, Masango says she would welcome a role that takes her in the opposite direction. She is interested in portraying someone who has experienced hardship and building a character from the ground up.
As her career continues to evolve, her willingness to embrace challenging roles suggests there is much more to come from this young South African talent.
