Katlego Mashego on what Sundowns need to do to win CL |

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mashego believes the club’s current crop of players have the capacity to conquer Africa and win the CAF Champions League. That’s if they bring their quality.

He, therefore, urges the players and the coaches to bring their best quality in every match, so they bring the gold home for the second time.

In the past seasons, Masandawana have been struggling to replicate their 2016 success. That’s when they won their first CAF Champions League trophy.

Last season they had a disastrous campaign. They were eliminated by Angola giants Petro de Luanda in the quarter-finals following a one-all stalemate at home.

MASHEGO ON SUNDOWNS QUALITY

“Sundowns is a quality team. I think if they bring quality in every game they play, they should end up in the final and probably win the cup. They do [stand a chance]. They just need to bring the quality,” Mashego told FARPost.

“I think it’s every club’s ambition to win the Champions League. I’m sure all the other clubs are preparing very well to win it.”

Mashego further stated that the team is in good shape. However, the club should reinforce its squad when the January transfer window opens.

“The squad is ok, but there is always a need for reinforcements. You must always consider things like injuries.

“If there are good players available on the market, they have the capacity and the money to bring them in. Then they should go for it,” he concluded.

In this season’s edition, the Tshwane giants were placed in a tough group. They are in Group B alongside Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Al-Hilal of Sudan and Coton Sport of Cameroon.

Bafana Ba Style kickstart their campaign on 10 February at home Al-Hilal.
