Kaizer Chiefs: Update on a coach.

It will be simpler for Kaizer Chiefs management to look for a new permanent coach for the team because they have faith that Cavin Johnson will successfully complete the remaining 2023–24 DStv Premiership season.

After replacing Molefi Ntseki as head coach of the Glamour Boys last year, Johnson has won the hearts of the Chiefs management.

After Ntseki was fired from Naturena due to poor performance, the former coach of SuperSport United was first hired as the club’s Head of Youth Development. He was then given the responsibility of leading the senior team as an interim coach.

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson

Chiefs have been looking for a permanent coach, and it is anticipated that Johnson will return to his academy position. However, if Johnson continues to produce strong results, he may also put himself forward for the position of permanent head coach.

“With the way things have gone towards the end of last year, I don’t see coach Cavin going back to being the head of the academy. He has managed to bring back the smile to the management and most importantly the supporters,” said a source.

“Even though the search for the new coach continues, the Chiefs bosses believe coach Cavin is the right man for the job. It’s still early days, but the signs are there. They believe he is the perfect person to bring back the club to where it’s supposed to be. I think what makes them believe in him is that he has been in football for a long time and knows exactly what’s lacking at the club and what is required to make things right.”

At the conclusion of the 2023–2024 season, it is unclear if Johnson will accept the position full-time or if a new coach will be named.
