Kaizer chiefs goalkeeper could be set to leave the club in January

Several Middle Eastern clubs are allegedly keeping an eye on Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, and one of them could make a move for the Nigerian international in the coming months.



The 35-year-old Nigerian international was forced to miss the end of last season after suffering a concussion, and he has failed to find regular game time since his return.

After four matches away from goal, he returned to the field for the Amakhosi and played in the team’s crucial 2-1 victory over SuperSport United last weekend.



They have a strong pool of goalkeepers to pick from in Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, and Akpeyi, all of whom are excellent.

However, at the age of 35, both Khune and Akpeyi are rapidly approaching the conclusion of their professional careers.



Until the end of June 2022, Akpeyi’s deal with Naturena will be in effect.

According to the All Nigeria Soccer website, Kaizer Chiefs have not held negotiations with Akpeyi about the possibility of extending his contract with the club.
