Jessica Nkosi Speaks Out on Pregnancy Shaming: ‘This is Why I End Up Not Posting

Actress Jessica Nkosi recently took to social media to address the issue of pregnancy shaming after she received negative comments from some users in response to pictures from her maternity shoot.

In addition to the many challenges that expectant mothers face, including weight gain, depression, exhaustion, and physical discomfort, many also have to contend with unsolicited opinions and criticism from society regarding their pregnancy. Nkosi spoke out against this harmful behaviour and called for greater understanding and support for pregnant women.

Actress Jessica Nkosi recently shared her experiences with pregnancy-shaming on her Instagram stories. She revealed that she had received comments from some users questioning her decision to have a second child after the birth of her firstborn daughter with actor Ntokozo Dlamini in 2018.

Nkosi stated that these negative comments had affected her willingness to share personal information on social media, and she responded to the criticism with sarcasm.

“This is why I end up not posting or removing the comment section cause there are just a few people that will just irritate me. And I know I shouldn’t be entertaining them but yoh, sometimes nje,” she wrote.

“Or people who say; ‘Hawu you still pregnant’ Yes sure it’s odd that I’m pregnant for 9 months. regular people give birth in a month. I’m sorry! Next time I make sure to give birth quickly just for you.

“People who say; ‘You pregnant again?’ Excuse me … my last pregnancy was in 2018, it’s 2023! Are you kidding me! Stop it, please. Acting as if I’ve been pregnant every year since, and even if I was, so what?”
