Jacobs Renews with Natal Rich Boys

Richards Bay goalkeeper Malcolm Jacobs has renewed his contract with the Natal Rich Boys after guiding the team to the DStv Premiership.

Last November, Jacobs expressed a growing desire to make it to the DStv Premiership. As a way of validating his talent, and the hard work he has put in and the efforts of all those who have supported him.

Jacobs joined Richards Bay in 2019, having spent most of his career in the second tier with teams like Ubuntu Cape Town, Mbombela United and Highlands Park.

“I’ve been with Richards Bay for two and half seasons and I feel it’s been fruitful for my career and I’ve contributed to the team,” the former Chippa goalkeeper told iDiski Times.

“We made history together and I want to continue making more history. I just want to thank the chairman and everyone involved in Richards Bay for giving me an opportunity and believing in me, I’m not done yet!

“There were teams interested but it was all talk, nothing concrete so I think naming them not important.”

The Cape Town-born shot-stopper kept 13 clean sheets in 27 games for Richards Bay FC and only conceded 16 goals all season. This of course generated speculation with four clubs in AmaTuks, Swallows, Polokwane City and even Maritzburg United showing interest but he chose Richards Bay in the end.
