SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has labelled his striker Bradley Grobler as the “best finisher” in South Africa.
Grobler is three goals away from netting his 100th goal of his senior career after finding the back of the net against Stellenbosch on Tuesday, which took his tally to six strikes in 2022/22.
The 35-year-old has been instrumental for Supersport United all these years, scoring many important goals and Hunt believes a fit Grobler could still help the national team.
“I just hope he is fit for the next game,” Hunt told gathered journalists.
“Bradley Grobler, for me, if he was [staying] fit, he should be playing in the national team because he’s got the qualities but his fitness has been the problem because obviously he should’ve played at a higher level.
“He is the best finisher that I’ve seen in South Africa. He can finish, finish with the left foot, right foot, headers. He’s a fantastic finisher but we need to keep him fit. Already he struggled here today.”
Hunt also revealed that he tells Grobler and his other older players in the team to not train too much, just be ready for the next game.
“We’ve got three players in our club that hardly train, they don’t train them. [I tell them] ‘don’t train, go rather ride a bicycle, go walk in the park and go play Saturday’. That’s all we can [do].”
Matsatsantsa are sitting in third on the league table, just two points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after winning six out of their last seven league matches.
