Hundreds of buses head to Moria as ZCC members gather for September New Year conference
Hundreds of buses are making their way to Moria in Limpopo as thousands of Zion Christian Church (ZCC) members gather for the church’s annual New Year Consecration conference.
The conference, led by Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane, began on Thursday and will run until Sunday, with the main church service expected to take place on Sunday. September marks the beginning of the new year for the ZCC.
More than 4,000 buses from across South Africa, as well as midi- and minibuses from Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia, are expected to travel to Moria. Authorities have warned of heavy traffic on routes including the N1, N11, R567, D19 and R71.
Parking and informal trading are prohibited along the R71 in front of the ZCC headquarters to ease congestion and ensure the safety of worshippers and other road users. Motorists have been urged to be patient, obey traffic officials and drive carefully.
