Teboho Mokoena’s ability on the field is undisputed and the 2022/23 footballer of the season has also demonstrated his great character in his home province.

The 2022/23 footballer of the season has made good use of his off-season after embarking on a noble initiative in Bloemfontein.

The Teboho Mokoena Foundation recently held coaching clinics for budding footballers in Bloemfontein.

The 26-year-old partnered with three of his teammates Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala and Aubrey Modiba.

Former Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana was also part of the cast that accompanied the 2022/23 footballer of the season. Andrew Matjila of Living the Dream Sport Agency also joined them.

They trained over 70 youngsters at Central University of Technology [CUT] who they awarded certificates with high hopes of giving them motivation.

According to Mokoena’s Foundation, the thrust of the clinic is to breathe hope into the youngsters.

“We feel a sense of responsibility to guide those that look up to me back home in the Free State.

“The idea is to do these as often as possible. Every young person with the talent to play football deserves the opportunity. We must do the best we can to prepare them,” the Teboho Mokoena Foundation said in a statement.

The coaching clinic targeted players between the age of 12 and 18 in Bloemfontein, where Mokoena grew up.

Mokoena is one of the PSL players that had robust development after being snapped by SuperSport United at a tender age.

The versatile midfielder started off in the SuperSport United youth before graduating to the senior team in 2016.

His stock continued rising until he was signed by Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns during the 2021/22 season.

Mokoena and Mvala started for Bafana Bafana as the national team defied the odds over the weekend. They beat FIFA World Cup semi finalists 2-1 in an AFCON qualifier to go top of Group K. The Atlas lions, however, have one game in hand.
