Funeral underway in Zimbabwe for family allegedly murdered in UK
Funeral service is currently underway in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, for Nothabo Zandile Tshuma and her two daughters, 15-year-old Natalie and 5-year-old Nala, whose remains were repatriated from the United Kingdom after they were allegedly murdered at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, last month. The three are expected to be laid to rest side by side following the service.
The deaths have sent shockwaves through communities on both sides of the Atlantic. Hundreds of mourners attended a memorial service in Bedford before the family’s bodies were flown to Zimbabwe for burial, where relatives said they wanted to give them a dignified farewell in their homeland.
Nothabo’s husband, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, is accused of killing his wife and daughters fled the UK on 5 July. He was arrested days later in Kensington, Johannesburg, during a joint operation involving the South African Police Service and Interpol.
Tshuma remains in custody in South Africa, where he faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm while the UK seeks his extradition to face three murder charges. He is expected to appear again in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on 27 August as the extradition process continues.
