The centre-back has played for the national team, winning three caps back in 2017 but has since been overlooked by Bafana coaches.
Speaking to Rob Delport in the edition 89 of iDiskiTimes, Gordinho explained his decision to join City, and in part, it was to be considered by Hugo Broos for the Bafana squad.
“Yeah, but that’s also one of the factors,” Gordinho told iDiski Times.
“It was to be a part of a club that is recognisable in some form of sense, whether you recognise that these guys could win a trophy or some of the players can be the national team.
“And you can see it, with Thami (Mkhize), with Tarra, we had (Khanyisa) Mayo recently. And yeah, like, that’s the main thing, is to be a part of a team that is recognised for the team performances.
“So then the individual can grow and prosper from that, so that’s what I’m hoping to achieve.”
