Pitso Dladla’s men had a chance to move further ahead on Saturday, but Pretoria Callies held Richards Bay to a 1-1 draw in Tshwane on Saturday.
It was also a missed opportunity for second-placed AmaTuks, who played to a goalless draw away to Jomo Cosmos. They remain one point behind the leaders.
But there was a good win for Venda Football Academy, who beat Tshakhuma 3-1 to join All Stars on 37 points.
Free State Stars drew 0-0 with Hungry Lions, while there was a good away win for bottom-placed Black Leopards, who beat Polokwane City 4-3.
On Sunday, JDR Stars picked up an important three points, to move just two points behind Richards Bay, after they beat TS Sporting 2-1.
Finally Platinum City Rovers scored early as they beat Cape Town Spurs 1-0.
