A year ago Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie assumed the role of mayor at the Karoo District Municipality in the Western Cape and only vowed to hold the position for only a year.

Having made a huge impact in Beaufort West, notably, eradicating the bucket system and creating jobs, Gayton McKenzie announced that his time as mayor was up.
“I became Mayor a year ago, I said that I will stay for 12 months, my 12 months is over.”

“I am serving my last week and will go on a national tour to recruit for the Patriotic Alliance for 2024 National Elections,” he said.
From having had ambitions to run for City of Johannesburg mayor, Gayton McKenzie has now set his eyes on the Presidency next year.
