Gauteng Police are investigating a case of murder after a man was found shot dead inside his Mercedes-Benz in the Menlyn area, east of Pretoria, shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The incident occurred near a local pub, where patrons reported hearing multiple gunshots just moments before a crash.
Provincial police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that officers arrived to find a Mercedes-Benz that had crashed into the fence of a nearby car dealership.
Inside the vehicle, they discovered the body of a man. The car itself was reportedly “riddled with bullet holes.”
“A case of murder is opened for further investigations,” Nevhuhulwi stated.
“The information is still sketchy at this stage since patrons of a local pub near the scene allege that they just heard gunshots and later saw the vehicle crashing.”
Police have yet to identify any suspects, and the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting remain under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
