Online registration for Grade 1 and Grade 8 at public schools will go live on Friday morning until 19 August. Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the site can handle 40,000 people simultaneously.

Measures have been put in place to keep hackers at bay. Lesufi said the department has placed 48 decentralised walk-ins across the province.

It’s to enable parents who don’t have access to the internet to register their children. Lesufi says there will be people to assist.
