Marumo Gallants have released a statement on the drama around head coach Romain Folz.
Gallants are in an early-season crisis, which has led to huge arguments between Folz and chairman Abrahm Sello off the pitch, ultimately resulting in the Frenchman not being on the sidelines for their clash against Swallows FC on Sunday.
In quotes to various media houses, including iDiski Times, Folz had opened up on the interference from the chairman and insisted he would not work as an assistant coach to Raymond Mdaka for the Swallows game as suggested by the chairman because it would be a breach of his contract. He also stated that he would hand over the case to his lawyer, while reports stated he had resigned.
After the Swallows game, Sello told SuperSport TV that he has not received a resignation from his coach, who absent from the match due to personal reasons.

On Monday, Gallants’ Technical Director Harris Chueu got involved and told Soccer Laduma that Folz was not keen on working with him. However, the French tactician has rejected his point in a statement sent to iDiski Times and other publications.
“What was said here is totally untrue. He’s an elder person, and I do not wish to enter a fight with him via media like this, even though he has similar history with coaches in his past, and knows exactly what he did,” he explained.
“But what he didn’t know is that I am also aware of everything that was happening behind my back. Now, if people want to say something, they can do it. But from now on, I will not entertain that communication game they are trying to start.”
Meanwhile, Gallants also distanced themselves from their own Technical Director and insisted “internal discussions” to resolve the situation are currently underway.
“Marumo Gallants F.C. distances itself from the statements made by team technical director Harris Chueu following recent developments with club’s head coach, Romain Folz,” the club stated.
“Gallants’ Chairman Abram Sello stated that internal discussions are underway, with assurances to the club’s partners and supporters that the matter will be resolved in a manner conducive to the best interests of the team.
