TS Galaxy has extended the contract on in-demand Given Msimango, ending speculation about a possible move for the club captain.
Msimango had been rumoured to be a target of Kaizer Chiefs, but the 25-year-old confirmed himself in the past few weeks that he hasn’t received any offers from any club, but had mentioned that he would consider a new challenge.
The Galaxy captain helped his side avoid relegation when he scored a last-minute goal against Chippa United in the final game of the season.
The former Highlands Park defender has now extended his stay with the Rockets, which will see him staying with the club till 2025.
The captain played a vital role last season, making 19 appearances in all competitions, and scored that one important goal.
Now with his contract extended, any club wanting the defender will have to pay a fee. The former national under 23 is one of the longest-serving players at Galaxy, having been with the team since Tim Sukazi bought the status of Highlands Park.
iDiski Times managed to get a comment from Msimango as he explained that he was pleased to renew at a club where he is appreciated, and he is hoping to continue to excel at the club.
“I’m happy about the contract extension, I’m a professional footballer at the end of the day,” Msimango told iDiski Times.
“I am where I’m wanted and appreciated so I will never ever in my life force a move to a situation or a club that does not require the services.
“So I feel like I’m where I’m wanted and needed, and I think this is where I will excel.”
