Galaxy Coach Slams Komphela Behaviour

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic says coach Steve Komphela crossed the line and showed no respect during their altercation in their clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening.

Sundowns extended their lead at the summit of the DStv Premiership to 18 points with the 3-0 win over the ten-man Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium but their win was slightly overshadowed by the alleged disrespect on the sidelines.

Ramovic stated he was subjected to foul language that he could not repeat in public after looking to tell Komphela that he didn’t appreciate his comments to the officials about trying to get his player sent off.

“Look, I can understand if emotions are there and everything but there should be a line [you don’t cross], you have to treat people with respect, not only your colleagues and players, you should watch your language,” he said in the post-match press conference in response to iDiski Times.

“For me, if you ask a coach, stand there, and ask the referee all the time that he should give [a player] a second yellow card, I think this is the first thing that wasn’t okay. But okay after that, I was telling him that he should not do it because I think it’s not okay.

“When I told him in a normal way, he started to talk in a really really ugly way, bad language, that I don’t want to say, because it’s really bad – so I think that a coach like Sundowns, a beautiful club, should not talk like this to coaching colleagues.

“I think it’s a shame to be a coach of a great club like Sundowns. You represent your club, the way he did it I think it’s not okay – but after the game, it’s everything done.”

Ramovic went on to state that he’s over the incident and has no issues with the likes of Manqoba Mngqithi or Rulani Mokwena, whom he hopes will go on to win the CAF Champions League and South African top-flight this season.

“I don’t have any problem with them or the coaches. The other coaches have nice behaviour, nice coaches, outstanding guys,” he continued.

“I really wish them a lot of success to win the CAF [Champions League] and league, because it’s a great team and great club, with great supporters.

“So for me, the case is done, I just think we should avoid this kind of behaviour in any situation in our life because it’s not nice.”

The defeat snapped the Rockets’ three-match unbeaten run in all competitions as they hover in the relegation play-off zone, three points ahead of 16th placed Baroka, albeit with a game in hand.
