Ever wondered how ordinary people get caught up in criminal activities? Netflix’s latest African Original Unseen delves into one such story. Adapted from the Turkish series Fatma by Özgür Önurme, Gambit Films brings a uniquely South African twist to the six-part crime thriller. Follow Zenzi (Gail Mabalane) as she awaits her husband Max’s (Vuyo Dabula) release from a two-year prison sentence and supports herself through domestic work.

When Zenzi goes to pick up her husband, Max, from prison, she finds out he’s already been released. Her search for him leads her to the police, where she faces xenophobia and incompetence. She then takes matters into her own hands and visits Max’s associate Hendricks (Brendon Daniels), where she works as a cleaner. Hendricks is involved in criminal activity and urges Zenzi to find Max due to unfinished business. Zenzi steals a gun from Hendricks’ safe and sets off to meet his former partner Jackson Thom (Sherman Pharo). When Jackson threatens her, Zenzi shoots him. From there, things spiral out of control as Zenzi gets deeper into the criminal underworld and ends up on the run from both the police and criminals.
