Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Tebow, has shared an emotional announcement confirming the passing of her father, Bennie Peters.

The South African-born model and philanthropist posted a touching tribute on her Instagram.

DEMI-LEIGH IN MOURNING

She revealed that her father died last Thursday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, according to Athlon Sports.

In her post, Demi-Leigh wrote with a “heavy yet deeply grateful heart,” addressing her father directly in both English and Afrikaans.

She fondly remembered him as a man who never lost his humour, kindness, or deep Christian faith throughout his difficult cancer journey.

DEMI-LEIGH’S CHILDHOOD AND FATHER

The former Miss Universe South Africa hails from Sedgefield in the Western Cape. Her father, Bennie Peters, was a central figure in her life.

In her tribute, Demi-Leigh recalled cherished childhood memories, from a beloved pink bicycle to his famous pranks and stories. This illustrated the profound personal loss for the Tebow family.

She also reflected on the wisdom her father shared after the family previously lost her half-sister, Franje, who suffered from a rare condition.

THANKING SOUTH AFRICAN DOCTORS

Demi-Leigh recounted his lesson: “We can spend our lives questioning God or trusting Him.” She expressed immense gratitude for his example of unwavering faith, according to Youth Village.

The former beauty queen, who married American football star Tim Tebow in 2020, thanked the kind doctors and medical staff in South Africa who cared for her father.

SUPPORT FROM SOUTH AFRICANS

The couple, who welcomed their first child earlier this year, now navigate this period of loss. They are supported by their work with the Tim Tebow Foundation.

The heartfelt message from Demi-Leigh has prompted an outpouring of support from South Africans and her international followers. They all mourned with the beloved local star during this sombre time.
