Finland-based star Mlungisi Mkhwananzi, who plays for Finnish outfit IIves Kissat, is pondering his next move as he looks to take his game to the next level.
The Stars of Africa academy graduate is out of contract next month with offers from Europe and interest locally. Mkhwanazi, who is currently in the country on his off-season break, is taking time to weigh his options.
The talented centre-back moved to Europe in January this year after signing for IFK Mariehamn, three months later he linked with IIves Kissat on a free transfer where he settled well, becoming a regular player for his club in the few months he joined them.
With his contract expiring next month, the 23-year-old is in search for greener pastures despite his club having offered him a new deal.
“My contract with IIves Kissat expired at the end of the season, the club has offered me a new contract, but I haven’t decided on that. If I get an offer from a DStv Premiership team I will be happy to return home, I believe I deserve to play at a more competitive league,” Mkhwananzi told FARPost.
“Over the years, I’ve gained experience, playing abroad made me a better player. I think its time I move to a more competitive league that has a great exposure. That will help me as a player to get more recognition and grow.”
The Stars of Africa Football Academy graduate further revealed to FARPost that there is an offer from Sweden, which has a more competitive league. However, he is still weighing his options and deciding about his next move.
“There is an offer for me in Sweden, there’s a club that has invited me for trials when they start their pre-season in the next coming weeks. I’m still yet to decide about that. My first priority is to play in South Africa,” he concluded.
During his stay at IIves Kissat, Mkhwananzi made eight appearances starting seven matches and managed to score a single goal.
