Fashionistas unimpressed by Jaden Smith’s ‘Monster Claws’ shoes

Nepo baby and creative director for one of the biggest fashion houses, Jaden Smith, is not receiving the reaction he might have expected for at least one of his creations from the latest collection.

The eldest son of Hollywood stars Will and Jada Pinkett Smith was made Christian Louboutin’s Men’s creative director, and in January, made his Paris Fashion Week debut.

At the time the fashion giant said: “Maison Christian Louboutin is pleased to welcome Jaden Smith as the first Men’s creative director.”

“When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the Maison, his world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring, and his curiosity and openness are remarkable.”

His Paris Fashion Week offering was received well, but this time people are scratching their heads.

Fashion enthusiasts are wondering who would buy ‘The Monster Claws’, let alone wear them.

According to Louboutin’s Instagram post, the collection is a reflection on humanity’s perpetual cycle of creation, transformation, and renewal.

This is what Smith had to say about what inspired his design: “Christian has a hotel in Portugal. He’s an architect, and inside the hotel we were having dinner when I saw a statue that had these feet on it. I said, ‘You know, we should make a shoe inspired by the statue.”
