Fadlu’s Next Move? Agent Speaks Out

Former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids will bide his time before returning to football despite links with several DStv Premiership clubs, his agent has confirmed.

Davids parted ways with Pirates after three seasons upon the expiry of his contract, where last season as co-head coach alongside Mandla Ncikazi, they lead the club to the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Having been roped in after a successful first venture into head coaching at Maritzburg United, Davids is still held in high regard as one of the most promising tacticians in South Africa.

Naturally, he was linked with a return to the Team of Choice after the exit of Ernst Middendorp, which was quickly denied by Chairman Farook Kododia to this website, while SuperSport United were also mooted as a possible next destination.

But his representative Rasthoem Simons of 5sSports has confirmed the 41-year-old is currently on a break from football and will not rush into a new job any time soon.

“At this stage, we are having general football discussions with clubs. There has been a fair amount of media speculation out there of which none has any truth attached to it, unfortunately,” Simons confirmed to iDiski Times.

“Fadlu is out of the country taking a break and will be ready to undertake a new project at the right time.”

Davids led the Team of Choice to fourth place in the South African top-flight and the Nedbank Cup final during the 2017/18 season and was lauded for his role in developing the likes of Siphesihle Ndlovu‚ Bandile Shandu and Mlondi Dlamini into first-team stars.
