Lokomotiv Moscow has announced the appointment of former Orlando Pirates head coach, Josef Zinnbauer.

This comes after Zinnbauer resigned as Pirates mentor after suffering a 2-1 loss to Swallows FC in the MTN8 quarter-final clash last year August.

The 52-year-old German manager recorded 35 wins, 20 draws and 13 defeats in 68 matches during his tenure at the Soweto giants.

Lokomotiv is a Russian professional football club based in Moscow. The side has won the Russian Premier League on three occasions, the Soviet Cup twice and the Russian Cup a record nine times.

“We are glad to welcome Josef Zinnbauer to our team. As we planned, Lokomotiv is strengthening the coaching staff with a specialist with good experience in various championships,” said the club in a statement.

“When inviting Josef, we also took into account that he has serious experience in working with young people and shares the principles of the game that we want to see played by Lokomotiv.”
